About
Chaotique Company

You're gonna love it.

The philosophy of Chaotíque Company is “Just Be People.” We don’t separate the performer from the role, from the audience, from the artist. All the actors and musicians you see in out shows are also here to watch the show and create the show, even as they perform in it. We want to make each other laugh just as much as we want to make you laugh. We want to find something new at every performance, just as we have in rehearsal. We’re just here being people, the real people we are in the world, and people that exist in the world of the play.

CHAOTÍQUE COMPANY is an informal troupe of creators, actors, clowns, and kings lead by Rose Bochner, director and casting director. Rose is the Co-Founder of Shakespeare in the Square, NYU’s first and only student Shakespeare company that to this day performs free shows in Washington Square Park. CHAOTÍQUE’s mission is to present Shakespeare that is a good time. Nothing stuffy or boring or inaccessible. Nothing convoluted of high concept. Nothing unattainable or alienating. Everything fun and spontaneous. Everything approachable and relaxed. Everything low pressure and big laughs.

We pride ourselves on clear, character-based storytelling that uses and abuses text to our whims, making adaptations of Shakespeare's plays that bring his works into the now by honoring thier intentions and point out how ridiculous they can be. Come hang out and see what we're about!
